Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to bring the art experience to people with limited mobility so they can embrace beauty, joy, and the magic of life through the power of art.

Our vision is a world where art knows no boundaries. We believe every person is deserving of the transformative power of artistic expression, enriching minds and bodies alike through accessible, regular engagement.

How For Love & Art Began

Initially trained as a medical therapist, Mark Lombard discovered the profound impact of art through his studies in art history. This realization blossomed in 2003 when he began volunteering at a local hospice, sharing vibrant museum postcards with patients. He soon observed that these curated images sparked deep, meaningful dialogues that patients yearned for but rarely had the opportunity to initiate. Unbeknownst to him at the time, Mark practiced what is now know as “therapeutic art.”

One pivotal experience involved a patient named Ms. Billie. By sharing museum-quality postcards with her, Mark witnessed a remarkable improvement in her emotional well-being and overall quality of life. Deeply moved by her transformation, he expanded these sessions to other residents, witnessing similar breakthroughs. This success laid the foundation for something much larger.

In 2010, Mark integrated his hospice experience with his passion for fine art to establish “For Love & Art: Sharing with Seniors.” He successfully formed alliances with ten renowned museums, securing the rights to showcase their prestigious collections. During a special ceremony at the Dallas Museum of Art, twelve area hospices were gifted “Virtual Museum Art Books” to facilitate these connections.

By January 2013, FOR LOVE & ART® officially became a registered nonprofit. The project has evolved from simple postcards to physical art books and finally into our current digital showcases titled “Celebrating the Art Experience,” which continue to bring joy and engagement to seniors today.

For Love & Art was founded to bridge the gap between museums and seniors in care communities, using art as a way to offer comfort, stimulation, and emotional connection.
